Pond Bank & Creek Bank Clearing in McNairy County, TN
Pond banks fill in with willows, blackberry, and saplings within a season or two if they aren’t mowed. We bush hog the dam, the pond surround, and creek edges where it’s safe for a tractor to work.

What We Handle
- Pond dams — mowing the dam itself for inspection and erosion control
- Pond surrounds — the bank area around the water
- Spillway approaches — keeping the spillway clear and visible
- Creek banks — rough mowing back from the water line where the tractor can safely work
- Drainage ditches alongside fields and roads
- Wet-weather creek crossings on rural property
Why Pond Banks Need Annual Cutting
An unmowed pond bank in McNairy County turns into a wall in a single growing season. Specifically:
- Willows sprout from the waterline and root deep within weeks. Year-old willows are still bush-hog-able; year-two willows turn into a real removal job.
- Blackberry and briar creates a thicket around the edge that blocks fishing access and harbors wildlife you don’t want near the house.
- Sumac, sweetgum, and persimmon volunteers root in the dam itself — their root systems eventually open up leaks.
- Snakes — copperheads and water moccasins both like the brush-on-water edge. Mowed bank, dramatically less of a problem.
- Inspection visibility — if your pond dam ever needs work, the engineer or excavator can’t see what they’re looking at through a brush wall.
Where We Can and Can’t Bush Hog
Pond and creek work has some real safety constraints we’ll talk through during the walk:
- Slope angle — we won’t put a tractor on a side slope steeper than the tractor is rated for. Some dams need a brush cutter on a string trimmer (handled by you or someone else) on the steepest face.
- Wet ground — if it’s been raining for a week, the bank may need to dry before tractor work. We’ll reschedule rather than rut up your dam.
- Water’s-edge work — we usually stop the cutter 4–6 feet back from the actual water line, depending on bank firmness. Closer than that gets risky and isn’t worth a tractor in the pond.
- Spillway pipes and standpipes — flagged and avoided.
How We Price Pond Bank Work
Usually priced by the half-day or day depending on pond size, dam length, and how much brush is on it. We give a written quote after we walk the property. Here’s how our quotes work.
